I don't understand why you went to the Vatican considering the role of the Catholic Church in its treatment of children and women especially in light of the Tuam Babies scandal and the disposal of the dead bodies of these young infant children in unmarked graves. What was the point of it anyway? To meet someone who claims to be God's representative on earth!! It looked like a lads get together of fifty plus years male 'celebrity' entertainers all standing in line bowing and shaking the Pope's hand with not a woman in sight. I suppose you can pass it off as an invitation I couldn't refuse as an audience with his holiness doesn't happen very often. The Catholic Church is a huge institution of male privilege and has vast wealth which it doesn't want to distribute nor provide for the many billion plus worshipers who are in living in abject poverty. Many of these worshipers are young girls and women who are without any proper healthcare particularly in the area of contraception and abortion rights. Maybe there's two Tommy Tiernans - The Comedian on one hand and The Husband/Father on the other - but when the media showed you meeting the Pope it was as the comedian that you were introduced to his Holiness. I find it hard to understand why you felt it necessary to attend such a gathering considering the way the Catholic Church behaves towards the rights of women and gay people.
